Prof. Westry
I found out that we have to use our resources to our advantage, for example we must use the pronunctiation key in our dictionary if we cannot pronounce a unfamiliar word. I also liked how the story A STEP BEYOND HUMAN explained how this handicap man did so much to improve artificial limbs to be superior to natural ones and to be used by those disabled like him as well as other handicap people.
ReplyDeleteI learned that if we learn the meaning of the parts that make up a word, we will me able to figure out the meaning of many more words. After reading the essay I realized that no matter what our condition might be we can always do what we always wanted. Like Herr who lost his legs, probably lost all hopes of ever walking again, and being able to do what other do. But it din't stop him so he created his own prostheses which someday will help everyone, specially the people who lost his/her limbs in Iraq and Afghanistan.
ReplyDeleteIn chapter 4, I learned that by learning the meaning of the parts that make up a word, you will able to figure out the meaning of many words. This is a way to build your vocabulary . Pre means before . Root means the middle and suff means at the end. Go way to remember them. Also using a dictionary is very helpful if we don't know a meaning of a word. Several dictionaries are available online.
